It's definitely a poetically crafted and noble film. It will be fluttering around inside me for some time, I imagine.
Recalled Kazuo Hara's Goodbye CP, though The House is Black is much more concentrated, much more poetic in its structure and effect. Difficult and powerful.
Rarely have images conveyed pain and pathos is such a forceful yet melancholic way. This is one film which would not be harmed at all by the lack of sound.
Muther fuckin' masterpiece. One of the best films ever, for sure. I'm sad it lasted only 20 minutes...many people walked out of the theatre, although the graphic aspect of it was quite beautiful. A must-see to any film buff. I love the look on that boy (is it a girl? His eyes are somewhat feminine) when asked by the teacher to use the words he had though him on a sentence. Love the gating closing on us the audience.
There is not a better day that I could have chosen to watch this film. It aides in pushing me in the direction I am aiming.
It stirs so many emotions, such a beautiful gem of a film. I can't think of any other movie like it, it's the closest I've seen to a filmed poem. A masterpiece.
Poetic, bitter, and totally true... Beautiful in a weird way... Narrated by Forough herself. 5 stars.
A devestating film, the power within this digs deeper than I could have ever imagined possible. The words seem to just fall upon you like bricks.
Every moment of this 20-minute documentary is an arresting encapsulation of the ecstatic truth.
