MANDA Kunitoshi, born in 1956 in Tokyo, directed several 8mm films while studying at Rikkyo University. At the university he met KUROSAWA Kiyoshi. After school, he worked as a screenwriter and assistant director on KUROSAWA Kiyoshi’s “Kandagawa War”(1983) and “Excitement of the Do-Re-Mi-Fa Girl”(1985). He also directed television dramas and industrial videos and has written film critiques for journals such as the Japanese monthly Image Forum. In 1996, he made a 40-minute feature “Spaceship Remnant 6,” a film in the J MovieWar 3 series produced by SENTO Takenori. In 1999, under his writer’s name MANDA Kunimi, he co-authored the script with Sento for NAGASAKI Shunichi’s “Shikoku.” “UNLOVED” is his first full-length feature film. —medialuna-entertainment.de
