Basically perfect. Great plot, great dialogue, great directing, and the same premise that makes films like Rosemary's Baby work: an intimation with the audience into the apparent hallucinations of its main characters
In my opinion, the perfect incarnation of the technical story arch. Comedic and suspenseful to perfection.
Early Hitchcock mystery about a young woman who meets an elderly nanny on a train, who mysteriously vanishes and the young woman seems to be the only one who remembers her. A nimble, highly entertaining mystery filled with intrigue, humor, and Hitchcock's signature prowess for suspense. One of Hitchcock's most purely entertaining efforts.
el título es realmente bueno, poético y concreto. england vanishes para mr. hitchcock, que pronto emigrará a eeuu
When I was much younger, this was the one Hitchcock film I simply couldn't get into. I now find it the one that most greatly rewards repeat viewing. Hitchcock deftly juggles comedy, suspense, romance, and action in the greatest (and last) of his British endeavors.
Excellent film!! Complete with eccentric characters, head-scratching suspense and some of Hitchcock's funniest comedy. Having the story set on the train gave the film a wonderful sense of perpetual motion and continuity.
What an amazing adventure! You want comedy, action, great dialogue, suspense, beautiful cinematography, toy train models and an ending so awesome that you have to rewatch it again! This movie already establishes Hitchcock as a master filmmaker. There's nothing more to be said, buy the criterion collection right now or find a way to download this shit and invite your friends over to watch this!
Probably one of the most hitchcock's film that inspired many other films. This film, once again, proved that what a brilliant mastermind alfred hitchcock was.
My favorite of Hitchcock's British films. I just think everything is on with this one...and I love the comic, ne'er-do-well approach the characters take during the climactic shootout.
Great idea but not so much for the acting and the end.... but still, a must-see!
One of my favourite Hitchcock movies. It's a puzzle, a mystery, it questions the viewer's perception. It's utterly witty, it's charming and it doesn't take itself too seriously. Plus, Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave have wonderful chemistry together. All in all, it's one entertaining (train) ride.
Early Hitchcock classic is as much a sophisticated English comedy as it is a mystery thriller. It may not be as darkly stylish as Hitchcock's later work, but it's got colorful characters, some great snappy dialogue, and a compelling central mystery - and Hitchcock's mastery of cinematic storytelling is solidly in place.
Hitchcock always had knack for casting some irresistible leading men in his comic-caper films, and Michael Redgrave's persistently cheeky and charming musician is no exception. The bedroom scene between Lockwood and his character is hysterical.
AN Extremely charming and delightfully comic romp. My first of the early english Hitchcock and definitely wont be my last.
