The Last Englishman

Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent stars in this British television biopic as real-life Col. Alfred Wintle, an eccentric hero of the English military who took over a French village by himself and even threatened to shoot one of his superiors. The monocle-wearing gentleman was notoriously proud of his country. So proud, in fact, that as a boy, he once said he would rather cut off his hands than attend a German school.
