Synopsis

Samantha Caine, suburban homemaker, is the ideal mom to her 8 year old daughter Caitlin. She lives in Honesdale, PA, has a job teaching school and makes the best Rice Krispie treats in town. But when she receives a bump on her head, she begins to remember small parts of her previous life as a lethal, top-secret agent. Her old chums in the Chapter are now out to kill her so she enlists the help of a cheap detective named Mitch. As Samantha remembers more and more of her previous life, she becomes deadlier and more resourceful. Both Mitch and Charly proceed to do the killing thing, the bleeding thing and the shooting thing. –IMDb

Renny Harlin

Renny Harlin (born Lauri Mauritz Harjola, 15 March 1959) is a Finnish film director and producer, known for directing many action and horror movies. Harlin, best known for directing Die Hard 2, is a 4-time nominee for the infamous Golden Raspberry Award for worst film directing. He is, however, 86th on the list of highest grossing directors of all time (based on U.S. domestic gross revenue).

His mother often took him to see films at the cinema as a child, particularly those of Alfred Hitchcock, and he became enamored with the movies often citing Sam Peckinpah’s The Wild Bunch (1969) as one of his favourites. Harlin had a video camera from a very early age and made his first short at the age of 12. At the age of 14 he decided to became a film director after he saw Don Siegel and Charles Bronson in Helsinki for the filming of Telefon (1977).

Great slice of action from the 90´s. Davis and Jackson makes a great pair and exchanges some inspired dialogue courtsey of Shane Black. The story might be ludicrous and the action over the top, but that is what makes the movie so enjoyable.

A somewhat underrated action film. In my view, one of the best action films of the 1990s.

It is so silly, so horridly written, and so over-the-top that (in it's own way) it's almost more compelling than some of the so-called "competent" action movies I've been seeing lately. It's the best bad movie I've seen in quite some time.

A powerful script and cast, ruined by a lazy director, editor and composer.

By Rick Brands on May 2, 2013

While watching this movie, all I could think was: such a shame. The script is tight, funny and packed with highly quotable dialogue, both Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson are giving it their all…  read review
