And how exactly would we get rid of the Gollum sequences?
This would probably be my second favorite in the trilogy if we could just edit out Peter Jackson's ill-advised attempts at humor, like the Gimli short jokes and Legolas surfing down a flight of stairs. Otherwise, the battle at Helm's Deep is as good as action gets in Lord of the Rings: not as epic in scope as the battle in RotK but much more intimate and personal of a fight, and therefore more exciting to watch.
he second film in the series is not the best of the three but its still pretty great. The Battle of Helm's Deep is where its at, so epic. Jackson's attention to detail is amazing, scenes that I envisioned in my head when I was reading the books come alive on screen, I think he did a wonderful job in translating it to screen.
"on every graveyard the mood is much happier" and again... a very awesome fantasy story, great pictures & perfect ambiente..!
Defies the "middle film in a trilogy" syndrome by being better than both the first and last parts. (Just like "The Empire Strikes Back"). It also happens to be one of the best war films ever made. The Battle at Helm's Deep rivals that of many great filmed battles (but not the greatest one: the final battle in "Seven Samurai"). Now if only we could get rid of the Gollum sequences, we'd have a five-star film.
Jackson's epic continued with this majestic second installment. The film was perfectly realized from the novel. The battle of helms deep, the ents storming of isidore, the vanquishing of wormtonque and so on... Not as satisfying as the first or third parts but the middle part of a trilogy never is. Amazing detail by the filmmakers and the craftsmen. Great performances all round especially Otto, Hill and Mortensen
This one remains a good one, yet when reminding it, I feel like it's crap. I seriously hate Gollum and it's ludicrous voice. And I hate even more all these gay understatement all along the movie. The battle of Helm's deep will remain one of the most epic battles in history of cinema. (if you forget about Legolas riding down the stairs on a shield -_-)
Je ne suis pas d'acccord avec le commentaire en dessous, c'est que je n'ai pas aimé ce partie de l'histoire, parce que la motie du film il y avait de la guerre, sans autre raison que montrer "une grande bataille"
Better than the first (both are amazing). I feel each film got better as the trilogy went on.
Worst of the three, but by far the most difficult book to adapt into a satisfying movie.
Not many fantasies are as solid as this one here. It was an epic because it offered a whole lot of something and not a whole lot of nothing and delivered.
I like this movie. My favourite scene is when Sam argue with Gollum when the creature protested because Sam wanted to cook the rabbit that the creature has hunted. I learned the dialogues... but in spanish :)
