Wow, that film was incredible. Definitely a masterpiece. I loved it. It was like a throwback to the video nasty gore films of the 70s and the 80s, but it also had such a great atmosphere. It was like if you take a film like Misery or Calvaire, mixed with a John Waters film like Pink Flamingos or Polyester. It’s also another horror film where I just love all the characters. None of them are typical in any way really. Xaviar Samuel was outstanding in this. He had about ten lines throughout the entire film and he had to rely on a lot of expression and visual emotion and it really works so beautifully. The chemistry between the daughter and father was perfect. The editing was perfect, and I loved how it managed to be so hilarious and so horrifying at the same time. I gotta admit, I squirmed a lot. There were moments that were pretty damn hard to watch. The gore was insane in this picture. Easily one of the goriest Australian horror films I’ve seen. I mean, this was a nasty fuckin’ film! I really got into this! I can’t really think of anything I found bad about it. It was suspenseful, humorous, and also very romantic. I thought the love story between the main character and his girlfriend was really heartrending and emotional, and I really wanted her to see him again. Like, I genuinely felt sad for these characters, even the psychopathic girl. Her reaction to a particular character’s death was truly a tearjerker. That girl, by the way, has to be the best female horror villain since La Femme from Inside. Overall, outstanding film. Best of all, it’s 80 minutes and yet it manages to pack just as hard a punch as most other horror classics.
