The Loyal 47 Ronin

In this period drama that upholds the values of fidelity and sacrifice, a group of ronin, or masterless samurai, plan a siege to avenge and honor their fallen leader in this adaptation of a legendary Japanese tale, based on true 18th-century events. Ôishi (Kazuo Hasegawa), the chief of the 47 swordsmen, plots patiently with the men in secret, culminating in a brutal attack. Kunio Watanabe directs this lush production.
