I feel like a missed something with this movie. Perhaps it’s too much of a cultural disconnect, or I’m too American of a viewer to simply sit down and enjoy a portrait of a woman who’s livelihood is threatened, but honestly, I found it pretty boring. The movie was also badly paced, it must be mentioned, with the sequences of Raquel torturing the other maids taking entirely too much screentime compared to relatively more important plot information.

I don’t know. It wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t impressed.
