The Man Who Sued God

Comedian Billy Connolly plays Steve Myers, a lawyer turned fisherman whose life goes topsy-turvy when lightning destroys his boat. Citing the event as “an act of God,” Steve’s insurance company denies his claim for damages. Then he hits upon the notion of suing the Almighty, or rather a group of churches professing to represent the deity — putting them in the awkward position of refuting God’s existence or taking the blame in this lively comedy.
