You don’t have to be an adrenaline hyped action junkie to enjoy the ride, or spend years snuffing dust print dust with your nose crammed in books on quantum physics and Einsten Rosen Bridge theory to be entertained. Exceeding our expectations, returning our returns with copious amounts of discover-able tidbits and clever innuendo. The Matrix dazzles. http://rorydean.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/the-matrix-1999-blu-ray/
I re-watched this finally after many years and truly believe this should have just been a stand alone movie and it's the the only one out of the trilogy I enjoyed completely. The sequel only had some redeeming qualities but doesn't really come close to achieving the greatness of the original and the 3rd film was just a mess.
Just rewatched this for the 5th or 6th times since its come out and I still give it a solid 5 stars. Fantastic storyline, visual effects, soundtrack, characters, cinematography, editing and dialogue. A true testament to modern film making at the time and now.
Incredible. Both fun and intellectual. Many elements far above the other movies. "They raise the bar so high : there is no bar".
Neo's fate is the wet dream of every deluded seeker who let themselves be preyed upon by religious cults.
I love how much symbolism you can find in this film (trilogy) and the fact that there are references to all types of religion and philosophy. Brilliant! :)
A legitimately great movie with some incredibly well-executed ideas and wild imagery. The Matrix stood the test of time (so far) and hasn't aged that badly. It's definitely not a perfect movie but is way a head of its time and its triumphs outweigh its drawbacks.
The Matrix is the first film I would like to commet about for it happens to be my generations Star Wars, I feel. I remember going to Mann's theater Hollywood and people were clapping with awe's and whoa's. So manny scifi movies are made yet there are few that would call a film over just being called another scifi movie. The Matrix is definetly a film in my thoughts. Movies come and go and films have staying power.
I think a lot of people who have negative remarks about the Matrix franchise are basing their opinions on the fact the films steadily declined after the first one, dare I say the second. I remember when this film came out and it was all the buzz. They invented a style of action-thriller that continues to be copied to this day -- and for that, they deserve much love.
