This movie is a huge pile of the shlockiest cheese imaginable, yet it’s just so damn entertaining that you can overlook the plot-hole riddled slice of Swiss cheese that is called a plot.
The two men who brought you the original King Kong are back with the first adaptation of the famous short story of the same name. That’s not all they brought; Fay Wray is as gorgeous as ever (she’s a babe) and you can even spot a few set pieces used in King Kong, most notably the huge knocked over tree that provides a bridge that the hunters escape on when being chased by the t-rex (I think? It’s been a while since I’ve seen Kong).
By no means is it a perfect movie, but it does deliver some iconic lines of dialogue, and you can watch it on instant Netflix, and it’s short as fuck, so why not?

Entertaining and influential adventure classic from Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Shoedsack. It’s pretty dated, and gets off to a slow start with a lot of slow an talky scenes. But once the climactic chase gets going, it’s undeniably suspenseful – with some innovative camerawork, atmospheric set design, and great vintage special effects. The action-packed and visually stunning finale is particularly memorable. An solid forerunner to Cooper and Shoedsack’s later spectacles.
