By the way, I think Stan Lai will be placed among the most important filmmakers in the film history books. He's certainly one of the most important Chinese filmmakers.

It's hard to think that I never heard of this guy until the screening I just saw at the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley. Very strong intellect and emotion. Very solid film with little instability. It never falls apart, even though it comes close at times. Chris Doyle--no explanation needed.
