you should definitely see the seventh continent and benny's video, you'll definitely see the pattern
This film is brilliant. I'd even dare say it's one of the best films i've ever seen. It's my second Haneke film, the first being Funny Games, and i've already noticed that his bleak direction and niche for simply letting the story tell itself plays a somewhat omniscient figure in his work. The characters in this film were intensely appealing and dynamic, and Isabelle Huppert gave a truly outstanding performance.
I really want to, but I can't find any places to watch his lesser known movies. Any help?
This kind of films, just like THE WAR ZONE or INTERIORS, should be a specific genre tentatively called "apocaliptic psycho-tragedy" or something. These circumstances, these portraits of human behavior are (for me) the authentical "end of the world". Astonishing dramas disturbing the most fragile milimeter of our sensibility, "the real shit", the ultimate abyss of our social condition. Also, Jelinek, my fav author!
The restraint Heneke uses towards his subject matter makes his violence all the more shocking.
An unflinching, uncompromising look into loneliness by the one and only Michael Haneke, starring the magnificent Isabelle Hupert.
There were moments during Huppert's interaction with her mother that I just couldn't stop flashing back to The Butcher's scenes with his wife and mother-in-law in *I Stand Alone*.
Defectless movie, absolutely excellent! I also fell in love with Huppert although she likes sniffing on people's jizz. No seriously, she was perfect as well as the rest of the film. Highly recommended!!!
This is not my favourite Haneke movie, but I still think it's worth. Especially for Huppert.
Something very honest and sad about this story of a woman so damaged that the only connections she can make are the ones in which she is in complete control
One of my favorites from Haneke, because Huppert and Magimel are more than believable in their difficult roles.
Highly fascinating but so very hard to watch. It's a disturbing, unsettling film experience.
Misanthropic, disturbing yet beautiful. Walter is initially the character we identify with and fall for—charming, intelligent, Erika’s possible sexual savior. His initial disgust at Erika's desires is illusory--her masochism may be destructive but when Walter finally breaks, his actions are way more perverse, violent. Is Haneke showing us the violence we're all capable of under our pretense of love and tenderness?omg
Wow is really all I can say at the moment (just finished watching). It's slow to start, but well worth the wait. Very complex and interesting characters. The build-up makes the latter half of the film all the more gratifying. Wonderful performances! The film is as beautiful as it is disturbing.
heart-breaking yet very endearing.. made me realize that all of us have different ways of expressing love (or the lack therefore).. though sometimes some mistook longing for love.. and to say that isabelle huppert acted really well is an understatement..
The trailer on youtube was deceiving. I thought it was just about a complicated love story. It was powerful and shocking. For me it was like about gender issues and a stiff lifetyle. And Isabelle Huppert was magnificent...
