Synopsis

A kindly grandfather sits down with his grandson and reads him a bedtime story. The story is one that has been passed down through from father to son for generations. As the grandfather reads the story, the action comes alive. The story is a classic tale of love and adventure as the beautiful Buttercup is kidnapped and held against her will in order to marry the odious Prince Humperdinck, and Westley (her childhood beau, now returned as the Dread Pirate Roberts) attempts to save her. On the way he meets an accomplished swordsman and a huge, super strong giant, both of whom become his companions in his quest. They meet a few bad guys along the way to rescue Buttercup. —IMDb

He had a series of guest roles in television series like The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Gomer Pyle and The Beverly Hillbillies, and other small film roles in Where’s Poppa? (1970) and Summertree (1971), before he landed the part in All in the Family.

He co-wrote the first episode of the series Happy Days in 1974, and in 1978 he wrote and produced the romantic… read more

I saw this when I was kid, recalled recently and re-watched. It is a wonder. It's not stupid, nor boring. It's witty, it's funny, it's lightweight, it's naïve like Henri Rousseau's pictures.

Hadn't seen this movie in ages and I'd forgotten how funny it is. Billy Crystal is in it! And Cary Elwes is steaming hot.

The Princess Bride is a movie I grew up watching, It will always have a place in my heart as it is one of those movies that is endlessly quotable and fun to watch. It's funny, it's got some great sword fights, it's charming and has a great cast. I will always love this film.
