In order to get out of hock with mobster Billy Walker, restaraunteur-turned-“retrieval expert” Beck has to go down to Brazil and retrieve Billy’s ne’er-do-well archaeologist-wannabe son Travis, who is searching for an ancient gold idol called the Gato del Diablo. This idol is prized by not only the local population as the path to their salvation, but by Cornelius Hatcher, slavedriving operator of the Helldorado mining town who oppresses said population in the name of profits, and Hatcher just won’t let Beck leave with Travis.—IMDb

It is what it is...basically, lol. Like mentioned before, a bit silly but still enough action to give a goose bump here and there. And anyone who grew old watching Dwayne Johnson as his "Rock" alter ego in pro wrestling will appreciate the physicality of his role here.

Completely over-the-top silly, but its pretty obvious that it was intended that way. Could it have been better? Without question, but as a winking homage to the action genre, I enjoyed it a lot.

This one had a lot more going for it than I was willing to give it credit for. The action scenes were full of verve, and I was convinced by the movie's Latin American jungle setting, even if it wasn't filmed on location. It was pretty funny in spots too. And it's got Rosario Dawson AND Christopher (Freakin'!) Walken. Watch it.
