A cheeky, sexy documentary-hybrid, The Secret Disco Revolution wraps revealing celebrity interviews — The Village People, Gloria Gaynor, Kool and the Gang — classic glitter-era footage and music in a hilarious new package that never lets you stop dancing long enough to decide what’s real and what’s satire. –TIFF
This documentary is really terrible. Some of the talking heads are great, especially authors Alice Echols and Peter Shapiro, but the overall movie is cheap and obnoxious (particularly the phony trio of actors playing the "disco revolutionaries"). The fact that the film's website calls this documentary a "quietly hilarious doc-satire" should tell you to STAY AWAY.
