Synopsis
Adapted by Wendy Wasserstein from a short story by John Cheever, this teleplay stars Sigourney Weaver and Edward Herrmann as an affluent alcoholic couple whose pathetic lives are seen through the eyes of their 8-year-old daughter. The production artfully explores the drama, tension and heartbreak behind the veneer of this seemingly picture-perfect family living in the fictional suburb of Shady Hill.
