Contains all of the cleverness and originality that made the first three seasons some of the best written kids shows of all time. Has a much bigger feel to it than the show, as all good TV show-based films do, has really expressive, funny animation and FINALLY shows SpongeBob and Patrick on a live-action dry land, something I'd always imagine as a kid. Indie soundtrack is fuckin' awesome beyond belief, too.

One other thing I should add too is that, unlike the show in it's current state, there's no mean-spirited, cynical "humor" to be seen in this film. It's just nice and upbeat, with a lot of goodhearted-ness to it, but is also absurd and silly with lots of surreal designs, ideas and characters. There's nothing offensive, but there's also nothing saccharine, making it perfect for all age groups, young and old, and also for people with a weirder mind-set than the general public. Pretty much, great for anyone who wants to see a good family film.

Man, I remember seeing this in the theater. Absolutely loved it. Now, its lost a little spark, but it still is great fun. Especially the soundtrack, which really kicks in during the credits.

Just watched the last twenty minutes on TV. Still love the credits at the end. Great songs utilized.

It's quite simple, Stephen Hillenburg's 2004 masterpiece is the best film since 1977 when Annie Hall came out

Is The Spongebob Squarepants Movie something so big, so extravagant that it demanded to be seen on a screen much larger than the one you have at home? Not really. But it’s a lot better than some of…  read review
