Noah Baumbach: Mindreader

This film slipped under my radar for a few years (I knew about it, but I neveer got around to watch it). Then, I saw it at Books-A-Million for under seven bucks, and so I picked it up. Probably one of the best seven dollar purchases I ever made. I cannot begin to tell you how much this film resonated in many, many ways with me, from the manipulations of the parents, to the conversations about who looks like who, to the children having to choose sides in the most difficult of situations. Nothing in this film seems as though it couldn’t happen. While I, myself, didn’t become like the kids of this film, I could see why they did, and how they were affected by everything around them. Noah Baumbach has created, for me, a true and honest work of art, one of the best films of 2005.
