I would never have known about this film if it weren't for MUBI. Thank heavens because it's brimming with such heart and joy that I feel drunk with happiness. There are so many wannabes out there that try too hard to be surreal for the sake of being quirky and "unique"; every oddity in this film is there for a reason and connects via human threads. We are all endowed with the capacity for magic in our minds.
At once, both subtly vibrant, and vibrantly subtle. Beautiful cinematography. A delightful film.
a great film where I feel director Katsuhito Ishii found his true voice, after a very impressive Tarantino-esque debut film of "Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl".

Oh god, I had a mind orgasm though out the whole thing. Loved it, loved every character so much. watch it, it's a must. and to the people who say its pointless: is finding the thing or person that makes you happy "pointless?" sometimes there is no big philosophical undertones, and no big finish, but that's life too.
