Synopsis

The Three Stooges return to the big screen with this contemporary take on the zany trio from Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly. Beginning with their childhood in an orphanage in the 1950s, the film takes Larry, Moe and Curly through their adult years. Four interconnected segments written and directed by the Farrelly brothers contain all-new material but remain true to the classic tone set by the beloved slapstick icons.

Peter Farrelly

Peter John Farrelly (born December 17, 1956) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer and novelist. The Farrelly Brothers are mostly famous for directing and producing gross-out humor romantic comedy films such as, Dumb and Dumber, Me, Myself and Irene, There’s Something About Mary and The Heartbreak Kid.

Farrelly was born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, the son of Mariann, a nurse practitioner, and Robert Leo Farrelly, a doctor. He was raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island and graduated from Providence College. He has described himself as a relatively poor student who partied hard, before moving onto a salesman job in Boston, Massachusetts. Farrelly dreamed of being a writer and spent many sales trips out on the road thinking up stories. According to Farrelly, he had been living with a friend in Las Vegas, Nevada and working on a novel. One day he woke up with another hangover and decided it was time to go to church. Put off by the priest’s incessant plea for donations… read more

farrelly brothers tried to the purest form of comedy. but if you don't like the genre, like me, don't bother to watch it. i know three stooges has a lot of fan, but it's just for laughing and nothing else. you can't expect something cinematoghraphically good. so if you're not a fan, i don't recommend to watch.

Three stars: Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos. Farelly: good stooge directing but the film fails as comedy. Is a GREAT physical-acting-class. Besides, to censor Kate Upton IS a blasphemy.

The Recession, American religious ideals, and Corporate America are among the myriad of issues that the Farrellys attack in this uber self-aware slapstick comedy.

"We can do it!"

By Steve Pulaski on April 23, 2012

Very few people will disagree with me when I say “The Three Stooges” comedy troupe was one of the funniest gangs of the twentieth century. They revolutionized comedy, pioneered the sub-genre of slapstick…  read review

The Three Stooges

Two groups won’t like the Farrellys’ Three Stooges, those who never liked the boys and the die-hard aficionados. Neither are likely to give the movie a chance and perhaps not without good…  read review
