Synopsis

Tracey Berkowitz, 15, a self-described normal girl, loses her 9-year old brother, Sonny. In flashbacks and fragments, we meet her overbearing parents and the sweet, clueless Sonny. We watch Tracey navigate high school, friendless, picked on and teased. She develops a thing for Billy Zero, a new student, imagining he’s her boyfriend. We see the day she loses Sonny and we watch her try to find him. In bits and pieces, we see what leads up to her riding in the back of a city bus wrapped in a shower curtain. Coming of age, or just surviving? —IMDb

Yes it can be hard to concentrate at times, but I think there's a lot of power in the stylistic choices that the film makes and Ellen Page is terrific. Interesting feat.

I hate few movies more than this one. Useless, hateful cinema.

"Run Lola Run" is the firt movie that came to my mind. "Paranoid Park" somehow too. The movie runs exactly as our mind: a constant in and out of thoughts, fellings, memories and made up facts. Fragments that are part of many stories and end up in a single one. Messy. If there is a truth, it´s hidden somewhere.

What a haunting, fascinating film. Its obvious experimental tone can make it really hard to watch for some people, but in the end, it was so incredibly executed that we really dive into that psychedelic maelstrom. Ellen Page is amazing here.
