I thought the entire film was brilliant.
A well structured and directed film, unraveling information at a methodical pace which allows us to get into the head of a sociopath. The film will leave you with an uneasy feeling.
This was unlike any thriller I've ever seen. It's very bold and unconventional in its delivery of early giveaways that-- surprisingly-- do absolutely no damage to the everlasting suspense and uneasiness of the film's nonlinear narrative. Everything is extremely intense up until the chilling climax, which I wouldn't dare spoil!
"She dreamed that we'd meet somewhere in space, each of us imprisoned inside a golden egg. In my dream we also found each other, out there in space".
Almost every minute of that film is built around tension and uncomfortability. Amazing portrait of a believable sociopath. Very good thriller.
woah! I didn't see that coming... harsh enjoyable film, I think this has been an inspiration for heaps of modern filmmakers.
I just got done watching this damn fine film. My favorite performance was by Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu. I do Google on him and discover he died from cancer on 27 December 2010. Damnit! Now I want to see more films he starred in.
This film should be a mandatory viewing for anybody looking to make horror/thriller films as a means of breaking up any preconceptions of formula or structure. It would certainly weed out all these ridiculous gore fests and obvious thrillers you can predict every step of the way. Ironically enough, an American remake was made in 1993 that managed to have the nerve to thumbtack a bowtie ending. Watch this, not that!
i loved this movie. i had a very unsettled feeling during the entire movie, but the ending stuck with me. i still can't get over how it all turned out, and the superb storytelling in this movie is completely responsible for that.
An excellent film. However, had the film ended with Rex's lighter going out, it would have been even better.
Excellent thriller! The pacing was good & scenes were fitted very well, without any exaggerating effects&musics. Quiet as something that's mysteriously vanished. Serene as something that's surely remembered.
No blood, no monsters, no gore, no special effects. Just psychological terror. You create your own fear in your mind by only imagining what has happened to the characters. The ultimate horror movie. Masterpiece.
one of only a small handful of movies that actually hits you hard, in the stomach, like it says it will on the back!
Totally loved this film! Especially the dark, twisted, and depressing ending!!!
Just saw this off the site for the first time and have to say I'm thoroughly impressed. Great camerawork, editing, and setup. Especially liked the introducing shot of the Professor being skewed by half-dark/half-clear glass.
WOW! Never drink laced coffee from a sociopath. European movie dialouge is so much more lyrical, I love it. Cant belive this was turned into that p.o.s. Keifer Sutherland movie. Not anywhere near the same aesthetically or storywise really. Wow! great movie.
Anguishing psychological thriller with a very believable display of a contained sociopath and his modus operandi. It is in the vein of the 'my wife vanished and I don't have a clue of her whereabouts' theme displayed in other interesting movies like Frantic or Breakdown. Everything looks so verisimilar that the agony, uncertainty and eeriness seem to be endless.
