Yolande Zauberman’s World-War II drama tells a sad story of a teenager trapped in a terrible time.
In Nazi-occupied Paris, Jules (Jérémie Rénier) is a 19-years-old Jewish boy who lives from day to day, without having an ideal. Whereas, Thomas (Julien Le Gallou), his 15-years-old younger brother wants to act and to enter the French Resistance movement. Both of them are in love with Maria (Élodie Bouchez), a Spanish member of the French Resistance movement who is ready to sacrifice her life to liberate occupied France.
These young people will become much more mature in this world of heroism, betrayal, bravery and sacrifice where they will have to overcome a lot of different hardships. Indeed, after Jules’ brother takes a Nazi’s weapon, local cop “Commissaire” Romain (Grégoire Colin) puts Jules in a difficult place: either he must give up his brother, or their parents will be deported. This is the first of many crisis of conscience that Jules faces. –EuroChannel
