I’m baffled as to why this film has not received the attention it deserves. It has a single Oscar nomination which is extremely deserved for best make-up, but there is so much more working for this film. First of all the acting is superb throughout. The actors have a way of making you invested in the characters that they portray without even needing a fully flushed out backstory. And being a character driven story it was vital that this happened with the acting. That being said I would’ve liked to see more backstory and just more explanation of these character’s lives, but the movie succeeds without it. The cinematography and landscapes are all beautifully shot with just the right amount of beauty in a suspenseful film like this. My major gripe comes from the editing department mainly because I would’ve like to see more of some locations that didn’t get enough attention, and less of some that dragged on for too long. Even with that, I was entertained and invested in the characters until the very end and I left the film with a sense of wonderment at the trials that these people went through.
