They Call Me Mr. Tibbs

This sequel to In the Heat of the Night finds detective Virgil Tibbs (Sidney Poitier) and his family living in San Francisco. Tibbs becomes embroiled in an explosive case when a liberal preacher is suspected of murdering a prostitute. The action-oriented film isn’t as topical or as tense as its predecessor, but Poitier sizzles — as always.
