In this sharply observant, confidently stylized debut, Hasan, a young Palestinian man, smuggles himself to the U.S. to obtain bomb parts for a terrorist plot back home. Still reeling from the death of his younger sibling, Hasan finds much-needed support from his uncle’s family in Detroit and a sense of brotherhood in an unlikely friendship with a troubled American drifter, Chris. The guidance Hasan gives and receives during Ramadan sets his and Chris’s lives on a new course. –Abu Dhabi Film Festival
