Thousand Suns

18-year-old Yann is a fisherman’s son. He grew up in Croisic, a small fishing port highly favored by vacationers from Paris and Nantes during the summer break. Yann spends his days hanging out with his two friends, prepping to retake an exam he failed and carrying out his job cleaning the beaches. He crosses paths with Lena, a girl who used to stay in a villa where his mother was formerly employed. Yann and Lena were playmates. Fascinated by the young woman she’s become, Yann wants to get closer to her. His attempts to make contact with her continually fail and he feels frustrated and humiliated. Each day, he observes her for hours from a distance while she passes her days at the beach. What Yann and Lena don’t know is that they’re brother and sister. –unifrance
