Three Bridges Over the River

Arthur teaches history in Paris. He has lived alone since leaving Claire, who had a little girl by another man. The moderately eccentric behavior of a neighbor across the landing reveals Arthur to be a fragile individual who lacks confidence and worries about everything. So when he decides to go to Lisbon to see the eminent historian who inspired his dissertation, he sees Claire again and asks her to come along.
