Three retired soldiers, Pankrác, Bimbác and Servác are released from the army with no money and they just wander around the world. From hearted elves, they recieved magical gifts. Three veterans consider how to best handle donations and eventually enter the Kingdom of Monte Albo, where Bimbác falls in love with Princess Bosan. Bosan is not only beautiful, but also despicable and gradually takes all the gifts from the soldiers and let them leave. While the king and princess enjoy the magical things, soldiers realized what is for them truly important. At the same time, elves will introduce veterans to the trees with magical fruit. After those fruit Bosan grows long, long nose, which even exceeds the borders of the Kingdom. The only help is from the magical fruit tree.

Oldřich Lipský (Juli 4, 1924, Pelhřimov – October 19, 1986, Prague) was a popular and influential Czech film director, brother of actor Lubomír Lipský.
Czechoslovakian filmmaker Oldrich Lipsky is best known for his satires and comedies, particularly his gentle spoof on American westerns Lemonade Joe (1966). During WW II, Lipsky spent time in a work camp. Later he attended Charles University in Prague and studied philosophy, later working as an artistic director at Prague’s Satirical Theater. Lipsky then worked as an actor and screenwriter in the early ’50s becoming a director in 1954. —allmovie guide
