I also Saw this in 35mm which made it really fantastic
a hilarious trip through time. sort of a mix between monty python's humor but brazil's bizarreness. at times it was slow but all together it was a fun adventure movie, though a bit long, and very hilarious. this was a great terry gilliam film and makes me want to watch brazil again soon! I recommend anyone who loves adventure/history to watch this
The definition of imagination let run wild. Gilliams' first non python feature is a piece of inspired lunacy that often gets away from itself. Unlike Brazil or Munchausen it is not a film that has grown better with age but feels more and more like an unrealized vision. Sure there's some inspired moments especially those with David Warner and Ralph Richardson but really just is a foreshadowing of things to come.
i saw brazil and then i watched this.. kinda wish i didn't. but meh, i like seeing early works for directors i like. 1 star for me..
When I watched it over and over again in my single-digit youth, this movie was to shape so much of my taste in film. Gilliam's best, ever.
A somewhat flawed film, but its creativity and imagination far outweigh any minor issues. Incredibly original, wild and whimsical an absolute blast from beginning to end. Extremely Gilliamesque, but not as unfocused as some of his other works, 'Time Bandits' is a perfect example of what a children's film should be. Imaginative, scary, funny and adventurous. Thank God for Terry Gilliam.
There is a lot to like about this movie, but it comes across as if Terry Gilliam bit off more than he could chew. Many of the ideas and themes are choppy and underdeveloped. The ending, while shocking and funny, is also confusing and unsatisfying.
Fantastic movie. Love it for many, many reasons. Hilarious cameos, great story, just a great movie.
I love this for sentimental reasons. & the ship used in the film was docked in the harbor of my hometown.
this little wonderful gem was one of the first films I recall to have seen. a fantastic journey through the ages. the ending is horrifying, in a good sense, but it devastated me when I was a child.
