After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles are needed more than ever, but Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo have become lost and direction less. Leonardo has gone to Central America, on the orders of the martial arts master and father figure Master Splinter, for training. Donatello and Michelangelo have started small businesses in Leonardo’s absence. Meanwhile, strange things are happening in New York City. An army of ancient creatures threatens to take over the world and the Turtles must unite again to save it. —IMDb
Well, at least we have four other Ninja Turtles movies to keep us happy when Michael Bay's production of "Angsty Exploding Alien Tortoises" debuts next Christmas. Including this one, which nicely sits beside the original Steve Barron / Jim Henson movie as a fun, nicely-produced CG outing with the nostalgic characters. Too bad "WALL-E with Tezuka Property" proved to be a financially upsetting follow-up for Imagi.
The overall plot with the ancient warriors wasn't so great, but where the movie is really great is in the relationship between Leonardo and Raphael. It's the best depiction of the Turtles from the Eastman & Laird comics since the original film.
