my favorites were Tsai's, Egoyan's, Dardenne's, Kaurismaki's, and Assayas'
Lars Von Trier's and Elia Suleiman's are my top favorites. I also loved the first segment, the one that was shot out of a local movie theater in Alexandria, Egypt.
I liked a lot the shorts, my favorite segments being Youssef Chahine, Oliver Assayas, Roman Polanski, Claude Lelouch and Innaritu's. I don't like Egoyan's because it was promoting bad behavior, thankfully Lars von Trier was there to correct it.
Best 5: Kiarostami, Tsai Ming-Liang, Dardenne Bros, Gonzalez Innaritu and Hou Hsio-Hsien. Also, I'm not a fan of Cronenberg, but his short was genius.
Cronenberg and Polanski cracked me up.
My favorite shors were from these directors: Manoel de Oliveira, Chen Kaige, Nanni Moretti, Cronenberg, Wim Wenders, Claude Lelouch, Walter Salles and Zhang Yimou. My least faborite were the shorts directed by Assayas, the brothers Dardenne, Egoyan and Amos Gitai.
I liked very much the Dardenne Brothers' segment, "Darkness".
Polanski's short was the only reason to waste those two hours. I find it pretty amusing, cause the finest short consists of a message camouflaged as masturbation, while the rest of them do almost the same thing, only that another way around (but hell, maybe *that* is the point of cinema, beats me :)).
Anyone know where I can see "Van Sant's" segment?
I enjoyed a good 70% of the total and my cinephilia is quite pleased. It could be a good idea to see this movie in different sessions so that you don't get bored and can appreciate every single part.
I only liked Roman Polanski and Lars Von Tier's. The only two that got a reaction out of me. All the other film makers failed at being creative.
I particularily liked Lars Von Trier's short film that illustrates one of the most recurrent phantasms of every movie-goers. I FEEL GOOD !
Manoel de Oliveira, Tsai Ming-Liang directed 2 min. masterpieces.
Wonderful. I like theater seats.. in this film (shorts) turn out to be hundred of them .. there are many things to see, to deal, another reason to be in love of Wong Kar Wai.. I adore this shoes.
