I KNEW he was an android!
Gives off a cool that most films can only dream of, while also being incredibly intelligent and real.
Originally a brilliant UK mini series from Carnival in the UK, a fitting precusor to a great film. Traffic UK was set in Europe and Pakistan but pre 9/11 few in the US knew that Islamabad was the capital of Pakistan, so it was an emulsion of a Mexican drugs storyline with the original TV script from Simon Moore.
Impressive status report that can be seen several times. Benicio Del Toro steals the show and deserves every single award he earned for his performance. Masterpiece.
If being preachy entails exposing the futility and hypocrisy of America's "war on drugs" -- then preach on, brother!
A strong message that the drug polices of the west are corrupt and illegal .. how many more people must be condemed to death by puritanical nutters ..
I LOVE this movie. My favorite part is the coloration of each story. Each one has a certain appearance to it that really stands out and lets you see the differences between the stories.
Del Toro's great performance and unique visual design makes the mexican scenes the stand parts of this film and i honestly wish there were more of them. The rest however makes me question why this film was so hailed upon its release.
I seriously never got why this film should deserve any merit. Not bad by any stretch of the imagination, just simply quite average...
I don't buy it. This movie has influenced so many glib, trite and obnoxious prestige movies that it can't be looked at in the same way.
