Tabloid reporters Jack Harrison (Jeff Goldblum) and Gil Turner (Ed Begley, Jr.) are sent to Transylvania with two choices: find the Frankenstein monster or find new jobs. Can these two bumbling heroes unravel this monstrous mystery or are they in for some very scary surprises? Rudy De Luca (Life Stinks) writes and directs this wacky comedy that also stars Geena Davis as nymphomaniac vampire Odette and Joseph Bologna as a semi-mad doctor.
I don't get the hate on this flick. It definitely isn't amazing, but I'll go as far as to say it's just as good anything Mel Brooks was making at the time. There's a healthy blend of corny puns, slapstick, smart visual gags, and a few witty one-liners peppered in for good measure. Also the cast: Goldblum, Ed Begley, Jeffrey Jones, a randomly awesome Michael Richards. Geena Davis didn't hurt either. Suck it, haters.
