When 27-year-old Elisa (Mariana Santángelo) breaks up with her boyfriend and loses her job, she also loses any hope of realizing her dream of becoming a hair salon owner and supporting her two children. Elisa’s only option is to take a job in a Uruguayan brothel, which soon lands her in Barcelona, Spain — and into the midst of a white slavery ring. Director Beatriz Flores Silva’s atmospheric drama also stars Andrea Fantoni and Josep Linuesa.
Born in 1956 in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1982, she settled in Belgium where she majored in Filmmaking at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion. She wrote and directed the short films El pozo (1988) and Las lagartijas (1989), the TV film La historia casi verdadera de Pepita la Pistolera (1992), and the features In This Tricky Life (2001) and Polvo nuestro que estás en los cielos (2008). She founded BFS Producciones, taught courses on actors direction and audiovisual production, and is the national coordinator of the International Public Television Screening Conference (INPUT). —Mar Del Plata Film Festival
