Synopsis

Alma is a small-town teen with a big imagination. Horny and looking for love, she has only her lively imagination and a kindly phone sex operator to ameliorate her frustratingly lonely and chaste life. But Alma’s active fantasy world and even more active libido only seem to get her into trouble. After a titillating yet awkward encounter with school heartthrob Artur promises to literally make Alma’s dreams come true, she is instead shunned by her catty classmates and saddled with a particularly unkind nickname. Suddenly a social outcast, Alma is desperate to just move out of town and on with her life… if only growing up were ever that simple.

Turn Me On, Goddammit is an offbeat coming-of-age comedy with a deadpan sense of humor, enlivened by its rich sense of fantasy and frank but sweet approach to teen sexuality. With its complicated and perfectly executed tone balancing candid sexual content with a certain earnest awkwardness, Turn Me On is an apt evocation of the particular complexities of teen girlhood. —Tribeca Film Festival

An unusually perceptive look at female sexuality through the eyes of a teen girl with raging hormones who becomes a social outcast after a boy's sexual advances turn her into the talk of the school. With so many movies about male libido, this is a refreshingly frank celebration that female sexuality is nothing to be ashamed of. Insightful, funny, & poignant, and one of the best coming of age comedies in years.

The trials and tribulations of raging hormones, sexual awakening, ostracism and the complications that surround them. Refreshingly told from the female perspective this one is bright, playfully kitsch and surreal in it's approach. The film follows a small group of 15 year-old friends and their desires within a tiny dead end town. 3 stars

Frank and funny teen comedy

By Michael Harbour on February 20, 2012

Charming, funny story of a teenage girl with the sort of sexual hunger combined with naiveté and awkwardness usually portrayed as an adolescent male condition. Her rich fantasy life and phone sex habit…  read review
