Synopsis

An assassin lies in wait for the president at a football playoff game, and when he goes on a killing spree, it’s up to two cops (played by John Cassavetes and Charlton Heston) to calm the chaos and catch the madman. It's easy to pigeonhole this as a disaster film, right down to the over-stuffed, often over-qualified cast. But this is not a film that provides an easy villain (the sniper's motives and personality are left eerily ambiguous), and the slowly building menace is effectively handled. Shot mostly on location, it also serves as a fascinating time-capsule of 1970s Los Angeles.
