A bonkers, freewheeling satirical epic with a serious core. One of the few films that seems to have been triumphantly cast out of the contemporary world and which the classical cinema would have been unable to accomplish and perhaps unwilling to even try.

Mass exterminations were still the order of the day in desintegrating Yugoslavia when Kusturica felt it opportune to do this carnivalesque, fake-jovial ode to the Balkans, in which all the good patriots happen to be Serbs. A great display of ignorance and irresponsibility. Leni Riefenstahl would have been proud.

one of the weirdest,and funniest movie i've seen in years,though sometimes i feel the runnig time are too long,but still,a great movie,especially the second half. Delicatessen seems like pretty normal compared to this one.

Underground is film every person who claims to appreciate cinema should experience! This story of epic proportions is the ultimate display of Emir Kusturica's unique style of filmmaking. Everything in the film is perfect, from the script and directing to the actors and music. Underground is perfect, flawless film. 100% cinematic greatness.
