Synopsis

Mitsuko is an able worker at city hall, but unambitious. She turns down opportunities for advancement from her boss, Eiji, and also his subsequent offer of a relationship, preferring the simple life to that offered by Eiji. Instead she picks up with, Hiroshi, an amateur guitar player and dreamer. But when the two men meet face to face, they each come to question their own life style. —BFI

Kunitoshi Manda

MANDA Kunitoshi, born in 1956 in Tokyo, directed several 8mm films while studying at Rikkyo University. At the university he met KUROSAWA Kiyoshi. After school, he worked as a screenwriter and assistant director on KUROSAWA Kiyoshi’s “Kandagawa War”(1983) and “Excitement of the Do-Re-Mi-Fa Girl”(1985). He also directed television dramas and industrial videos and has written film critiques for journals such as the Japanese monthly Image Forum. In 1996, he made a 40-minute feature “Spaceship Remnant 6,” a film in the J MovieWar 3 series produced by SENTO Takenori. In 1999, under his writer’s name MANDA Kunimi, he co-authored the script with Sento for NAGASAKI Shunichi’s “Shikoku.” “UNLOVED” is his first full-length feature film. —medialuna-entertainment.de
