I think you're kind of missing the point there. My guess is that the director was trying to inmmerse us in the hidden side of gourmet cooking and its reminiscence with the galaxy.

It made me think about how the smallest chemichal reactions are equal to the largest chemical reactions in the universe. Something as simple as food is composed of the same molecules as the biggest galaxies in the universe.
