As with many biopics, this feels sometimes fragmented. However, it manages to capture a magical mood and it holds it all the way to the last moments. The photography is great, and is capable of jumping from one setting to the other with perfect synchronicity. The performances are all spot on, especially Gavilán who is impressive during the dramatic moments and the performance moments.

A huge leap forward compared to what I've seen in national cinema so far, a wonderful biopic full of inner rhymes relating both inner and outer world of Parra's vision told with such rhythm and grace it doesn't only offer valuable insight into her work but takes away a considerable part of the grimness in her life to make this work much more solemn, and ultimately an endeavor of sheer love and respect.

Como en el muro la hiedra

By javier quintero on January 7, 2012
