It'll just keep growing on you.
Watching Almodóvar is always a nice experience. The photography is top-notch. It is so beautiful and colorful, and still manages to fit within that world. The performances are brilliant. However, Penélope takes the prize; she is so detailed and moving, and her homage to old film stars is amazing (Cruz was told to channel Sophoia Loren). The whole story is perfect. It may be my all-time favorite Almodóvar film.

Meek Almodóvar is still rhapsodic entertainment. Didn't remember it being great the first time, but right now, I'm loving it! Although, taking this emotional route.......hmmm.....
I love how Almodóvar plays with the line between character and characterization. My favorite Penélope Cruz performance to date because it feels the most natural, or rather the role is so unnatural that it fits. The cinematography is PERFECT. Amazing dutch angles and movements. I feel that there was too much resolution provided in the ending. He should have just ended the film on the bench scene.
Despite the fact that Penelope Cruz's rather glamorous appearance did not mesh at times with the image of the other actors, the excellent cinematography and colour-work and even the experimentation with Latin American realismo mágico have combined to make this film enjoyably memorable.
Filme simples, mas "doce". No começo não me agradou pois pensava se tratar de filme espírita. Mas ao final me surpreendeu completamente. E por isso, dou 4 estrelas. :)
Pedro Almodovar makes the most beautiful colorful films in my opinion. This one made a vivid impression. But I refuse to choose a favorite of his.
More linear and less provocating than Male Education. Like most Almodovar films, we are not sure during the viewing and then at the end we can only admit that everything feels right and that the film is beyond criticism !
