The intensity built up under my skin without me knowing it because of Dawn's funny quirks but by the chocolate cake dessert scene I started bawling. I usually don't like movies with young leads but Heather Matarazzo nailed it.
this was the rawest portrayal (and most accurate, sadly) of middle school. I love love love Heather Matarazzo here. everyone should see this for it's honesty and humor
I watched this film for the first time when i was about 10. Left a great mark in my cinematic sense of life/observation
i don't know why but, this one is kinda itchy for me.but i still keep on watching it. (how logical am i?)
Genial.
Honest,True&original..Probably the closest there is to what happens in junior high.
Amazing movie, though I wanted her to get her revenge. But yeah. I know how she feels.
This movie is a true masterpiece even if I find that the end is missing something.
Solondz does a brilliant job at capturing how truly shitty middle school is. It's not hard to relate to at least one aspect of Dawn's bummer of a situation. Matarazzo was fantastic playing the aptly named Dawn Wiener, as were all the other actors. Definitely one of the best movies I've seen about having issues with school and stupid teenagers.
Poor Dawn, her life really does suck!! I most definitely felt for her through the movie. It reminded me my horrible days in middle school... So glad not to be in school anymore! This is probably one of my favorite movies of all times and maybe the only movie by Solondz that I would consider brilliant!
