snoozefest this is
A few cliche's but a decent story with an acceptable ending. I will never not be attracted to trashy Kristen Stewart. No shame.
Strong indie character drama works in large part due to the cast, with James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo excellent as always, and a surprising turn from Kristen Stewart, who has wrongly developed something of a bad wrap. It may not completely achieve its dark potential, but a well-crafted and compelling film.
Other than showing that Kirsten Stewart can be anything but Bella (and swear and go semi-nude!), the movie rarely does anything to excite. Still the performances of the actors are very strong.
Performances were strong and I liked the plot development. My feelings towards the film are lukewarm though.
Pretty regular..but it works out. I was afraid it would be more melodramatic, but it saves itself in most scenes. Stewart does her thing, the same character of herself (just like "Into the wild", "The Runaways", "Adventureland",...), but it works fine in this movie.
Just as I expected it would be, it was very, very good but I thought there was going to be a more touching breakdown scene pertaining to their daughter. I suppose since it had been 8 years... I can manage to excuse it. Stewart is her typical twitchy self, but this time its more applicable to her character. Great movie.
