What the Deaf Man Heard

Young Sammy Ayers’s mother is abducted from a bus and murdered, so he decides to pretend that he’s deaf and mute when the Greyhound arrives in a small Georgia town. His deceit continues — but not for long — into adulthood. Now a man, Tommy (Golden Globe nominee Matthew Modine) learns a town elder is embezzling church funds, so he’s compelled to speak up.
