this was a great film in the beginning...to quote Freaks & Geeks in regards to Stripes (Bill Murray film...gotcha!)...it was lopsided...the end became too emotional without keeping its humor. i still think shaun of the dead is the best funny zombie movie ever made and would suggest it over this film every time.
Fun. Some very clever stuff. But just ... "not quite". There really weren't any character arcs or growth to invest in and thus no real reward. Fun. Definitely fun. But not great.
Abigail Breslin y Emma Stone transmiten energía y frescura.
perfect example why MUBI should implement the star and HALF system. this movie is by no means a three star, but four stars just dont seem legit. THREE AND A HALF STARS fit right. Best cameo ever and the opening credits where epic.
When vampires can walk at day and zombies run like Carl Lewis, there is for good something rotten in Hollywood kingdom. Zombieland reminded me of these westerns of the early seventies when Terence Hill and Bud Spencer literally killed the genre by making us laugh at their clownings. So go back to George A. Romero. And fast. Already forgotten.
This was my third time watching it, and will officially be my last. So many great ideas and scenes let down by so many Michael-Bay-sized wtf moments: Emma Stone running around like she just stepped out of a 2 hour makeover session and then complaining about the lack of a shower; the whole last scene is so contrived it almost ruins any and all good will earned from the best cameo in any movie ever. Disappointing x 3.
I feel like the majority of my senses were assualted watching this movie. Even a fantastic cameo by Bill Murray can't save this "ultra hip" zombie send up that is just a little too cool for it's own good.It would be a fine example of style over substance, if only the style weren't so amateur.
Sweet editing. Great performances from Woody and Jesse. The girls were decent but kind of ruined it. And Murray's cameo was rad but completely brought the movie to halt.
Woody Harrelson killing zombies. Emma Stone with a shotgun. Bill Murray's pretending-to-be-a-zombie cameo. If you ignore Jesse Eisenberg, who basically alienates every character he plays and turns him into a complete dork, you get a quite entertaining 90 minutes. And did I mention Woody killing zillion of zombies with basically anything?
Why do people like this movie so much? It's one of the most truly overrated films I've ever seen. It wasn't funny, the corny drama parts were vomit inducing; Jesse Eisenberg couldn't even save it. Emma Stone might be cute but she's not a great actress (Easy A was also terrible). What makes this movie great? Zombies? Sigh. The only great performance in this movie is Bill Murray, being himself.
