Though full of winking to the cheap design (flickering/immobile back projection, redundant voice over, etc), the film still embraces snappy characterizations in a way that works outside the self-reference to make an enjoyable film in and of itself, though Leonard the Bartender and his purposeful anachronism doesn't fit as well into the tropes as the other characters. Perhaps its the performance, perhaps its just a little too obvious, but the same way his demo cd cuts into the moody music, his character's exposition cuts into the snappy pop philosophies of the other stock. --DiB
