From 2010 – 2011 I was given the opportunity to be part of the Face to Face: Unity in Diversity Project through my Artist in Residency in Springvale. My contribution to this project and the community was to empower young students from the ages of 5 – 12 to share their stories
of everyday life in Springvale, through the medium of comic drawing.
The students from three schools participated in comic workshops with me where they learnt comic drawing skills and how to tell their stories. From these initial workshops each school was given the opportunity to further expand on their comics. This culminated into the exhibition, which is comprised of three parts: the students comics about everyday life here, my comics about my experience in Springvale during my residency and an animated documentary with some of the students from the workshops.
